Common problems
The installer stopped at a step. It prints the last lines of the install log. Fix what it says (often a full disk, a broken apt source, or another program holding the package manager), then run the same command again. It continues where it can. Interrupted package installs are repaired automatically.
The panel shows a certificate warning. The panel name didn't point at the server yet when you installed. Once the DNS is right, the real certificate is installed by itself within 5 minutes. You don't need to re-run the installer.
A customer domain has no SSL. Open SSL/TLS in that customer's panel. It shows why AutoSSL is still waiting, usually because the domain (or www) doesn't point at the server yet, or port 80 is closed. AutoSSL retries by itself.
Email goes to spam. Check Mail health (admin) or Deliverability (customer). Set the reverse DNS (PTR) of the server IP to your mail server name (mx.yourdomain.com), and make sure SPF, DKIM and DMARC show green.
Which DNS records do I still need? Run hf-admin dns-setup on the server for the list of records the panel's own domain needs. hf-admin dns-setup --check also marks the ones public DNS doesn't show yet and says which company runs your domain's DNS.
I can't reach the panel. Check that port 8443 is open in your provider's cloud firewall as well as on the server.
I locked myself out. On the server, run hf-admin reset-password <name>.
Apache won't start. Run hf-admin apache-fix: it repairs the usual causes and, if Apache still can't start, prints its real error. All server commands: hf-admin help.
Still stuck? Open an issue and include your Ubuntu version, your HostFog version and the relevant log lines (remove passwords first).
