Updating

From the panel

HostFog updates in the admin panel shows the newest version and what's new. Click Update to install it, or switch on automatic updates to install new versions every night.

From the command line

Run the install command again, as root:

cd /home && curl -o latest -L https://get.hostfog.io/latest && bash latest

On a server that already has HostFog, this updates it to the newest release with your saved settings. It replaces the program files, upgrades the panel database and repairs the server setup where needed. Accounts, websites, email, databases and settings are kept. Updates started from the panel are logged in /var/log/hostfog-selfupdate.log.

The updater won't install an older version over a newer one.

Upgrading Ubuntu

Upgrading the operating system in place (for example Ubuntu 22.04 → 24.04, or Debian 12 → 13) isn't tested yet. The safe way is a new server with the newer release and HostFog, then Move accounts from the old server to the new one.
